Day 3:  Mikeyba, Master of the Universe

Woke him up at about 7:10 to do the am walk.  Both robert and moses!!  Made breakfast (V+SP and flat kibble) which he didn’t touch.  He did drink some water, though.  Before I left for work I literally spoon- fed him straight V&SP which he happily took.  When I tried to feed him a spoonful of V&SP mixed with kibble (his breakfast), he tried a little bit, and actually let the kibble drop out of his mouth onto the floor. The man does NOT like kibble!

Not Mikeyba, but this guy has the same opinion of kibble as Mikeyba does.
Tried “sit” with chopped up raw broccoli stems as reward.  Like kibble yesterday, this is not an acceptable reward, in Mikeyba’s mind.  He crunched a bit, but then spat them out. (Note: he also dislikes his raw frozen “kibble” I gave him, after letting it thaw, of course.  He didn't eat a single one!) Only bits of cheese or hot dog or apple are acceptable!!  He did eat his glucosamine supplement, wrapped in a pill pocket.

Scott took away his food and water bowls a bit after 8.  Today’s my first day away from Mikeyba; I’m at work all day.  He has the living room only and Panzer the cat has the run of the apartment.  Scott says Mikeyba was asleep in his little bed when he left for the day, a bit after 8.

Today is also the dog walker Csaba’s first day. Mikeyba will get 1 midday half- hour walk.

(Later)  Just got a text from Csaba.  Mikeyba had fun and got along well with the other dogs on his ~1:45 walk but did no robert or moses.  That makes sense, since he did both in the am and ate very little breakfast. I had instructed Csaba to give him a bowl with a little water and a handful of kibble in case Mikeyba’s hungry.  He ate some of this snack yesterday.

Can’t wait to get home and see how he’s doing!

(Later)  Mikeyba did both robert and moses on the 6 pm walk.  It was a long walk with many sniffs, no barks, and impeccable leash walking behavior. He ate most of his dinner-- I did just a few kibbles in some warm water, then Veal & Sweet Potato wet and some new Liver wet on top of the kibble.  He likes the Liver even more than the V&SP-- hooray!

Patrolling as usual.
He patrolled the apartment for a bit and then spent most of the evening curled up in his dog bed asleep.  I scratched inside his ears a lot because I think they itch him. Twice I've seen him doing this head- throwing movement that looks like he’s try to rub his ears on the floor or on his dog bed. Petted under his head and a bit on top of his head and his neck and scruff.  Played with his ears a lot.  He doesn't seem to like being petted on his back but I managed a few strokes last night, when I learned he’s sort of dirty.  I may try to get some of those wipes or something.  He tolerates a little bit of slicker brushing.  We’ll work on that.  I also plan to buy a Kong Zoom Groom.  The Shiba Inu forum has great things to say about it.

His pre- bedtime walk yielded neither robert nor moses.

Bedtime was almost 100% ordinary, except he puked up his bedtime senior Greenie!  It was a very tidy pile of puke and easily cleaned up, but I was sad because he had done so well with his dinner!!
